These days some clinics are neutering when they are only a few weeks old. Some
refuge leagues started this because they decided the benefits outweighed the
disadvantages, which are pretty much unknown. I had a cat spayed at about 12
weeks because I thought it might not be possible to get her back to the vet
(she was a feral cat.) She's 4 now and there seem to be no side effects, but
who knows? There may be later on in life. Still, if I had NOT been able to
return her to the vet, her having litter after litter in the wild would have
been worse. That said, if you have a choice, I say to wait, too.
