Hi. At the shelter where I volunteer kittens are spayed and neutered at 2
pounds. That's done because of the stupid people in the world who still don't
get it about pet overpopulation. All dogs and cats are fixed before they are
adopted and leave our facility. However I wouldn't spay that young if they are
safe inside your home, I got mine fixed when they were 6 months. Jill and Girls

You want to make sure you dont do it to early so that it doesnt take away

These days some clinics are neutering when they are only a few weeks old. Some
refuge leagues started this because they decided the benefits outweighed the
disadvantages, which are pretty much unknown. I had a cat spayed at about 12
weeks because I thought it might not be possible to get her back to the vet
(she was a feral cat.) She's 4 now and there seem to be no side effects, but
who knows? There may be later on in life. Still, if I had NOT been able to
return her to the vet, her having litter after litter in the wild would have
been worse. That said, if you have a choice, I say to wait, too.
