Daryl,

I agree with Gabby's post to you. First of all, it's very difficult to
diagnose FIP. The abdominal fluid may be due to something else or even
possibly the FELV.

The other vet looked her over, and

I don't think a diarretic will help drain abdominal fluid. I think most
people have their vets draw the fluid through a needle inserted into the
cavity (I think, not sure). My guess is he put her on an antibiotic to
eliminate any secondary bacterial infections.

Daryl, if it were me, I would insist on using Interferon (which is very
economical) and Immunoregulin (which can be expensive). These are two
*great* immune system stimulants. I choose to use both because I've seen
better results from both. Immunoregulin is given by shot into the vein or
subq. Better results are seen using the intravenous route; however, many
of us start with intravenous route until the shot is narrowed down to
monthly. Then many of us, including me, give them ourselves at home subq
once or twice a month or more if we feel our little ones need it. I also
use Vit. C, ambrotose, thymus (which is very good when used in conjunction
with immunoregulin), and some other things. I do think Interferon and
Immunoregulin are your best bets to begin with, but you need to start
using them immediately. Also, you didn't mention if your cat is anemic.
Pet-Tinnic is great for anemia. If your vet won't get hold of these newer
drugs, I wouold find one that will. You don't have time to waste. Cats
go downhill very fast. Good luck. Let us help you with suggestions and
resources plus your feelings during this time. Nancy
